Split system air conditioning FAQs
How much does a split system air conditioner cost to install in Adelaide?
A fully installed wall-split (hi-wall) system in Adelaide typically runs from around $3,200 for a small bedroom unit up to about $6,000 for a large open-plan room, depending on the size (kW), the brand, and site factors like the pipe run and outdoor unit location. The calculator above gives an indicative price across our brands, and we confirm the exact figure at a site measure.
What size split system do I need for my room?
As a rough guide: a small bedroom suits around 2.5kW, a standard bedroom 3.5kW, a large room 5kW, a living area 7kW, and a large or open-plan space 8kW. Room size, ceiling height, insulation and windows all matter, so we confirm the right size at the site measure.
Is a split system cheaper than ducted air conditioning?
For one or two rooms, a wall-split is usually the cheaper and simpler option. If you want to cool the whole home, ducted is often better value overall. If you are weighing it up, try our ducted air conditioning price calculator too.
Can I finance a split system air conditioner?
Yes. We offer finance through the Brighte Green Loan, with weekly repayments over terms up to 10 years. Switch on Weekly repayments in the calculator to see an indicative weekly cost for each option. Rates, fees and approval are subject to Brighte’s terms.
Does the outdoor unit have to be right behind the indoor unit?
No, but a back-to-back install (outdoor unit directly behind the indoor unit) is the tidiest and cheapest. If the outdoor unit needs to go further away, an up-and-over pipe run adds cost, and a roof-mounted outdoor unit can need a crane. The calculator lets you pick your pipe run so the estimate reflects it.
Can I reuse my pipework when replacing a split system?
Sometimes, but old pipework is not always suitable for a new unit, so we assess it at the site measure. It also pays to know the common air conditioning installation mistakes before you commit to a quote.
