How much does it cost? T&K Airpower charges an upfront attendance fee, from $199, to diagnose an air conditioning fault and from $99 for electrical fault finding. Repair Pricing: How It Works

No two breakdowns are the same, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all repair price. Here is exactly what happens instead:

  1. Book a visit. Call 08 8296 7888 or book online and we will get a technician to you fast.
  2. We diagnose the fault. The attendance fee, from $199 (or from $99 for electrical), covers travel, testing and a clear explanation of what has gone wrong.
  3. You approve a fixed price. Before any repair work begins you get a fixed quote. If the job takes longer than expected, the price does not change.

Because we are the authorised warranty agent for Mitsubishi Electric, Temperzone and Hitachi, we repair with genuine parts, and if your unit turns out to be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty we will tell you. Not sure whether fixing an older unit is worth it? Try our repair or replace calculator or read more about our air conditioning repairs and electrical repairs.

Electrical Pricing

Electrical work starts with an attendance fee from $99 that covers fault finding by a licensed electrician. Once we know exactly what is wrong, you get a fixed price to fix it, agreed before we start.

For larger jobs we quote from a site visit. As a guide, a switchboard upgrade in Adelaide typically costs $2,000 to $4,000 including GST, with most homes landing between $3,000 and $3,400 depending on the size of the board and the condition of the existing wiring. Every switchboard upgrade is completed to AS/NZS 3000 and certified with a Certificate of Compliance.

How Much Do Trades Charge Per Hour in Adelaide?

Across Adelaide, hourly rates for air conditioning technicians and electricians commonly sit anywhere between $100 and $220 an hour before parts, usually with a call-out fee on top, and after-hours or emergency work can run higher again. On an hourly model you find out what the job really cost when the invoice arrives.

We price differently. Our attendance fees are published on this page, and everything after that is a fixed quote you approve before work begins. Whether the repair is quick or stubborn, the price you agreed to is the price you pay.

Why We Quote a Fixed Price, Not an Hourly Rate

Plenty of trades charge by the hour. It sounds cheaper, but it shifts all of the risk onto you:

  • You do not know what the final bill will be until the job is finished.
  • Slower work costs you more, so there is no reward for efficiency.
  • Travel time, parts runs and second visits can quietly land on your invoice.

With fixed pricing the risk sits with us, where it belongs. You approve the price before work starts, and if the job takes longer than we expected, that is our problem, not yours. It is the same reason we publish our attendance fees and service prices on this page: when you know what things cost, you can make a decision without pressure.

The Coffee Cup Comparison

Coffee has some of the biggest markups in hospitality. A cup costs well under a dollar to make and sells for around $6, and nobody minds, because the price also carries the barista, the machine and the rent. Trade pricing carries the same kinds of overheads, just with much thinner margins.

The price of a visit from one of our technicians carries around $100,000 of van and tools per technician, factory training to hold Mitsubishi Electric, Temperzone and Hitachi warranty accreditation, licensing, insurance, and the office team who answered your call. After all of that is paid, a well-run trade business keeps roughly 10 cents in every dollar. That is what our attendance fees and fixed prices are built on: not padding, just the real cost of doing the job properly, once, with a warranty behind it.

Is the Cheapest Quote Really the Cheapest?

Not always, and as the authorised warranty agent for three major brands we regularly see how the cheapest job ends up costing the most. A few things to check before you take the lowest number:

  • What has been left out? A stripped-down quote can grow through variations once the job is under way. Our quotes are fixed, so what we say is what you pay.
  • Are the parts genuine? Non-genuine parts can void your manufacturer’s warranty. We fit genuine parts, and because we are the warranty agent we will tell you if the repair should be covered by the manufacturer instead of your wallet.
  • Who stands behind the work? If a corner-cutting repair fails in February, will anyone answer the phone? Our installation workmanship carries a lifetime warranty and we have been answering the same phone number since 1996.
  • Is it actually the right fix? The cheapest quote is sometimes a patch on a system that needed something else entirely. We diagnose first and repair first, and we only recommend replacement when it genuinely makes sense.

Ways to Pay

Most customers simply pay on completion by card or bank transfer. For bigger jobs like a new system, we also offer finance through a Brighte Green Loan, so you can pay a new air conditioner off weekly. As a guide, a 3.5 kW split system at $3,350 works out to around $16 per week over 7 years. Both price calculators above can show a weekly repayment for any system you configure.

Brighte Green Loan: 9.49% p.a. fixed interest rate, 10.98% p.a. comparison rate, $199 establishment fee and $2.70 weekly account fee. Loan terms 2 to 10 years, loan amounts $2,000 to $60,000, subject to approval. Repayment shown is an estimate only.

Pricing Questions, Answered

How much does an air conditioning service cost in Adelaide?

T&K Airpower charges from $230 to service a hi-wall split system and from $290 for a ducted system, including GST, based on standard single storey access. Additional units serviced on the same visit are from $170 per split system and from $190 per ducted system.

How much does an air conditioning repair cost in Adelaide?

Diagnosis starts from a $199 attendance fee, with anything extra like two storey access confirmed when you book. Once the technician has found the fault, you receive a fixed price for the repair before any work begins, so the final cost is agreed up front rather than billed by the hour.

How much does an electrician cost in Adelaide?

Our electrical attendance fee starts from $99, which covers fault finding by a licensed electrician. The repair is then quoted as a fixed price. Larger jobs like switchboard upgrades typically cost $2,000 to $4,000 including GST.

How much does a split system cost installed in Adelaide?

A new split system installed by T&K Airpower ranges from $3,220 for a 2.5 kW bedroom unit to $5,760 for a premium 8 kW system, including GST, based on a standard back-to-back installation. Replacing an existing unit costs about $200 less.

How much does ducted air conditioning cost in Adelaide?

Most ducted reverse cycle systems cost between about $13,000 and $23,000 fully installed, depending on the size of your home, the number of zones and the brand you choose. Replacing an existing ducted unit while reusing sound ductwork can start from around $11,700.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. After the attendance fee covers diagnosis, every job is quoted as a fixed price that you approve before work starts. If the job takes longer than expected, the price does not change.

Do your prices include GST?

Yes. Every price on this page includes GST and comes from our live price book. Prices are correct at time of publication (07/2026) and your final price is always confirmed as a fixed quote before work begins.

Can I pay for a new air conditioner weekly?

Yes. Through a Brighte Green Loan you can pay a new system off weekly, for example around $16 per week over 7 years for a 3.5 kW split system. Terms range from 2 to 10 years and lending criteria apply.

How much do air conditioning companies charge per hour in Adelaide?

Hourly rates for air conditioning technicians and electricians in Adelaide commonly range from $100 to $220 an hour plus a call-out fee, with after-hours work often higher. T&K Airpower does not bill by the hour: diagnosis is an attendance fee from $199 (from $99 electrical) and every repair is quoted as a fixed price before work begins.

Why is the cheapest quote not always the cheapest?

A low quote can leave out parts of the job that come back as variations, use non-genuine parts that void your manufacturer’s warranty, or patch a fault that needed a different fix. A fixed price with genuine parts and a lifetime workmanship warranty usually costs less over the life of the system.

All prices on this page include GST and are correct at time of publication (07/2026). Every home is different, so your final price is always confirmed as a fixed quote before any work begins.
