What will my electrical work cost?
Add up the lights, powerpoints, fans, smoke alarms and anything else on your list and see the price for the lot. It’s a fixed price for the job, not an hourly rate, and it covers the parts, labour, overheads, our lifetime labour warranty and after-sales service. No hidden extras, and the price doesn’t change unless the job does. Bought some of the fittings yourself? Flick the switch and we take them off.

Electrical work price FAQs
How much does an electrician charge for small jobs in Adelaide?
It depends on the job, so the calculator above prices each item separately using the same pricebook our own electricians quote from. As a guide, a new LED downlight starts from around $280 installed, a new double powerpoint from around $340 and a new hardwired smoke alarm from around $590, all including GST. Putting several jobs into one visit is the most cost effective way to do it.
Is there a call-out fee on top?
No. When the work on your list goes ahead, there is no separate call-out fee added to the price.
Can I supply my own lights and fittings?
Yes. Turn on the switch for fittings you have bought yourself, tick the items you are supplying and the calculator prices them as install only. Fittings need to be Australian-approved (look for the RCM tick mark) and suit the job, so we can sign off the work as compliant.
Why is the price shown as a range?
The bottom of the range is a straightforward installation. The top allows for the things we cannot see from here, such as longer cable runs, tight roof spaces and solid brick or concrete walls. We confirm the exact price before any work starts.
What does a standard installation assume?
Reasonable access to the roof space and walls, and existing circuits and a switchboard that are safe and up to code. We cannot connect new work to wiring that is not compliant. If we find any, we will explain what needs fixing and quote it before going any further.
Do I need a switchboard upgrade?
If your board still has ceramic fuses, has no safety switches (RCDs), or is out of room for new circuits, an upgrade is usually needed before adding more work. Count the switches on your board and pick the matching size in the calculator, or see our switchboard upgrade page.
Will I get a certificate of compliance?
Yes. Every circuit we touch is tested before we leave, and you receive a certificate of compliance for the electrical work.
