Do I need a switchboard upgrade to install an EV charger?
Sometimes. It depends on your switchboard’s age and spare capacity. We check it as part of the assessment and tell you up front whether an upgrade is needed, rather than finding out halfway through.
What charging speed do I need, 7kW or 22kW?
Most homes are well served by a 7kW charger, which adds plenty of range overnight. A 22kW charger needs three-phase power and suits higher daily mileage. We’ll match the charger to your car and how you drive.
Do I need three-phase power for a fast charger?
For the fastest home charging (around 22kW), yes, that needs a three-phase supply. A 7kW charger runs on standard single-phase power. We check what you’ve got as part of the assessment.
Can I charge my EV from my solar?
Yes, with the right charger and setup. We can configure charging to prioritise surplus solar so you’re fuelling the car from your own power rather than the grid.
How long does installation take?
