How AirTouch 5 zoning works
Traditional ducted systems read the temperature from a single sensor in one room, usually a hallway, then heat or cool the whole house to suit that one spot. The AirTouch 5 changes that. It opens and closes the zone dampers in your ductwork so conditioned air goes only to the rooms you are using, and it can run different rooms at different times of day. That means you stop paying to cool empty bedrooms during the day, or to heat the living areas overnight.
Intelligent Temperature Sensors (ITS) and Individual Temperature Control (ITC)
The AirTouch 5 uses wireless Intelligent Temperature Sensors (ITS) placed in individual rooms instead of relying on one sensor in one location. With the optional Individual Temperature Control (ITC) upgrade, you can set a different target temperature for each room. The system then adjusts the airflow to each zone automatically to hold those temperatures, easing back on rooms that are already comfortable so it does not waste conditioned air. Built-in intelligence also factors in the weather to manage temperatures and airflow through the day.
AirTouch Home: one app for your whole home
The AirTouch 5 can be upgraded to the free AirTouch Home app, which brings your air conditioning and your smart home devices together in one place instead of juggling several apps and remotes.
